Heikki Hallanoro (b. 1980) is the 3rd most listened to finnish pianist in Spotify (10/2024) and artist of legendary Mons Records.
Once a promising astronomer who found the origins of Saturn's rings, Heikki was also a son of an alcoholic mother who has played his own songs on piano since a little kid and to whom music has always been his safe haven, he fell into fatal depression. In came the magical Soul Songs and he was lifted from the abyss.
Since then the vagabond musician/composer who 'hears' music when he is in nature, has toured with Soul Songs and was immediately signed by Mons Records. Double CD "Soul Songs Vol. 1 & Vol. 2" (Mons Records, released 8th of Nov. 2024) has garnered rave reviews for its colourful emotions.

Heikki records his pieces on a piano that is over a hundred years old, which – according to the musician – “has its own memories like an elephant.” He began his life's work "Soul Songs" in a phase of deep depression and through it found a way back into the light. He doesn't compose in the traditional way in the studio or at his desk, but rather listens to music when he's out in nature - whether near his hometown of Oulu close the Arctic Circle or while traveling around the world. “Music comes when one is open and experiences the world around,” says Heikki. For example, his “Soul Songs” No. 3 and No. 6 were created when he was on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage in Japan.
